Women’s Tennis Falls to Northern Illinois

Box Score WATERLOO, Iowa – The University of North Dakota women's tennis team suffered a Friday morning loss on the road to kick off its weekend slate, dropping 6-1 to Northern Illinois.

Doubles action proved to be the lone point for the Fighting Hawks as Ethel Li and Jule Schulte teamed up for a convincing 6-4 win from the top spot. The duo of Simone Cameron and Andrea Pineda followed suit with their own 6-4 win at the No. 3 court to secure the 1-0 lead for UND.

But the scoring for North Dakota would stop there. Northern Illinois swept singles play, collecting all six victories to secure the team win. Two matches went to three sets from the No. 2 and No. 4 via Schulte and Alyssa Giupponi, but neither resulted in UND victories.

The weekend action continues for the North Dakota women's tennis team with a Saturday match at 10 a.m. against Northern Iowa.
