PORTLAND, Ore. – The North Dakota softball team stays out west to take on the Portland State Vikings for a double header on Friday evening. First pitch times are set for 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Hillsboro Ballpark, with coverage on ESPN+.
UND is coming off an 8-0 loss to Washington on Wednesday night, currently sitting at 19-10 on the season. It is the 22nd meeting all-time between the two teams, with Portland State leading the series 13-8, but the Fighting Hawks have won five of the last seven contests between the two teams. It is the first matchup since March 17, 2019, when North Dakota won, 5-4 over the Vikings.
Scouting the Opposition
Portland State has an 8-16 record, losing seven of its last eight games. The Viking are coming off a 3-2 loss to Southern Utah on Saturday.
Grace Johnson leads the team in batting average, hitting .413, while Mia Martinez leads the team in home runs with four. The Vikings own a 6.09 ERA in the circle, allowing teams to hit for a .338 batting average.
