SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Following a senior season campaign littered with broken school records and Summit League championships, North Dakota track and field's own
Jadyn Keeler has been named the Summit League Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, league officials announced on Monday.
Keeler collected her second straight Second Team All-America honor after taking 12
th place overall in the women's 5000-meter run at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in a time of 15:40.81. She remains as the first Fighting Hawk in D1 program history to compete in a track event at the indoor national meet and is just the fourth athlete to compete in the meet in UND's Division I history.
The Barrie, Ontario-native entered the national championships ranked 15
th after running her qualifying time of 15:14.76 earlier this season at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener out in Boston. That time broke the UND school record and marked her first of three shattered records this season. She also made history in the mile rule (4:39.06) and the 3000-meter run (8:50.45), which became the first sub-9 time in history of North Dakota collegiate athletics.
Keeler also collected a second consecutive triple crown during competition at the Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships. She repeated as a gold medalist in the mile run (4:39.69), 3000-meter run (9:19.62) and 5000-meter run (15:56.90) to secure another trio of All-Summit League performances.
She closes her indoor track and field career as a two-time Second Team All-American, a six-time Summit League champion, a six-time Summit League Women's Track Peak Performer of the Week, a two-time Summit League Women's Track MVP and a two-time Summit League Women's Track Athlete of the Year.
North Dakota track and field will return to outdoor season competition with a pair of meets out in California at the Stanford Invitational and Triton Invitational on April 3 and 4.
