SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota track and field saw nine Fighting Hawks collect a total of 12 All-Summit League honors, league officials announced Wednesday morning. The honors come after those nine student athletes finished in the top three of their respective events at the Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships last weekend.
The men were individually represented by
Louis-Lys Fanucchi who, in his first indoor conference meet, won the men's mile in 4:05.51 and took runner-up in the men's 3000-meter in 8:19.20. His two-medal performance marked the lone two podium appearances for the UND men and garnered him Summit League Men's Track MVP honors at the championship.
Jadyn Keeler headlined the All-Summit performances for the Fighting Hawks as she collected a triple crown in women's competition. She topped the podium in three events—the mile, 3000-meter and 5000-meter—and led in points for any competing female track athlete at the meet, which earned her Women's Track MVP honors. Keeler first dominated in the 3000-meter with her clocking of 9:19.62 before running a 4:39.69 in the mile. The trio of gold medals was secured with her 15:56.90 time in the 5000-meter run, finishing more than 40 seconds ahead of the next runner.
UND earned another individual honor in
Katherine Rogers, who was named Women's Newcomer of the Year. She earned All-Summit distinction with her third-place performance in the mile run that saw her cross the finish line in 4:46.29 for a new PR and the third-best time in school history.
Olivia Correale became a two-time All-Summit honoree at the championship meet after taking second in the mile (4:44.22, PR, second all-time) and the 3000-meter (9:29.96, PR, third all-time).
A third-place finish for
Frida Giersdorff came alongside a time of 9:31.44 in the 3000-meter to secure the bronze, a new PR, the fourth spot in UND history and all-conference distinction.
Shewaye Johnson took silver for the Fighting Hawks in the women's 5000-meter run to earn her conference accolade as
Kajsa Cabanas Andersson added in a bronze medal after her throw of 46-6 3/4 (14.19m) in the shot put.
Julia Matthews continued the strong performances for UND in the field events as she finished runner-up in the weight throw on Friday afternoon, tallying a mark of 64-9 1/4 (19.74m), while
Marta Marksa rounded out the all-conference recognitions with her runner-up finish in the pentathlon with 3757 points.
