SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The No. 3 North Dakota men's basketball team looks to get to the Summit League Tournament Championship game for the first time since 2020, taking on the No. 2 St. Thomas Tommies in the semifinals on Saturday night from the Denny Sanford Premier Center. Tip-off is set for 9:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network and 100.3 The Cat.

It is a rematch from last season's semifinal matchup, in which the Tommies took down UND, 85-69. This is the 24th meeting all-time between the two squads, with UST leading the series, 12-11.

The two teams split the regular season meetings this season, each winning on the road. St. Thomas won the first matchup in Grand Forks on Jan. 15, 91-80, while UND snapped the Tommies 28-game home winning streak on Jan. 29, winning 81-80 at Lee & Penny Anderson Arena. Garrett Anderson led the way with 20 points in that contest, while Eli King hit the game-winning layup with seven seconds remaining.

North Dakota is coming off an 83-67 quarterfinals victory over six-seeded Denver on Friday night, punching its ticket to the semifinals for the third time since joining the Summit League in 2018-19. The Hawks led by as many as 23 in the win.

Uelmen Universe
It was the Greyson Uelmen show last night, as the redshirt freshman poured in 41 points on 13-of-19 from the field, going 3-for-5 from deep and 12-of-18 from the free throw line. He also added three steals.

Uelmen's 41 points set a freshman single-game tournament points record, with it being the second highest points total in a tournament game all-time, behind former Fighting Hawk Treysen Eaglestaff's 51 points in 2025. It was the 22nd 40-point performance in UND program history and was tied for the second most points in a game in the division l era.

Scouting the Opposition
St. Thomas enters this contest with a 24-8 record overall, beating South Dakota State on Thursday night in the quarterfinals, 80-67.

The Tommies are led by the duo of Nolan Minessale (19.9 points per game) and Nick Janowski (16.6 points per game), but were guided by Ben Oosterbaan in the quarterfinals. He tallied a career-high 23 points on 8-of-13 from the field.
