GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota volleyball team opens its 2026 campaign at the Steve Nimocks Redhawk Invitational this weekend. Hosted by SeattleU, the Fighting Hawks will play three matches over the next three days. UND will open the weekend in The Emerald City with Eastern Washington and follow with matches against SeattleU and Chicago State.
This will be the first weekend under head coach
David Nguyen who was hired to take over the program in Dec. of 2025.
The tournament was named for former Redhawks head coach Steve Nimocks who lost a battle with ALS in 2014. The weekend will act as a fundraiser for ALS research with SeattleU asking fans to donate to ALS Northwest. You can donate

This will also act as a reunion between UND and EWU as the two where conference foes in the Big Sky. The two squads faced each other in conference play from 2012 through the 2017 season before North Dakota moved to the Summit League.
All three matches will be available on ESPN+.
