Montes Claims Summit League Defensive Peak Performer of the Week

| By:
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – University of North Dakota volleyball student-athlete Lilliana Montes was named a Defensive Peak Performer of the Week by the Summit League on Tuesday afternoon.

Montes, a middle blocker from Murrieta, Calif., recorded 19 total blocks during the Fighting Hawks' 2-1 performance at The Joust. She capped the weekend with a career-best 14 total blocks against Sacred Heart, recording five solo blocks and nine block assists.

The honor marks the first Peak Performer of the Week award for the Fighting Hawks this season. Paige Barber was the last UND student-athlete to earn a Peak Performer of the Week honor on Oct. 14, 2025. UND has not had a student-athlete named Defensive Peak Performer of the Week since the 2014 season, when Jarolin de los Santos Lugo earned the honor on Sept. 3, 2014.

The Fighting Hawks will travel to Beaumont, Texas, for their final nonconference tournament of the regular season. At the Lamar Invitational, UND will face host Lamar, Sam Houston and Louisiana Monroe.
