MADISON, Wis. – Tucker D'Allaird fired a 1-under 71 to lead the North Dakota men's golf team through the opening round of the Badger Invitational on Sunday at the University of Wisconsin Golf Course.

North Dakota opened the three-day tournament with a 5-over 293 to sit tied for 12th alongside Ohio and Valparaiso in the 19-team field. Green Bay grabbed the early team lead with a 10-under opening round, followed by Western Kentucky at 8 under and Southern Miss at 7 under.

D'Allaird continued his strong start to the fall with five birdies during his opening round to sit tied for 22nd individually. His biggest success came on the par-5 holes, where he played them at 4 under with a 4.20 scoring average, tied for second-best in the field.

Nathan Peyerl finished just one shot behind D'Allaird with an even-par 72 and sits tied for 28th heading into Monday. Peyerl also recorded five birdies and played the par-4 holes at even par while finishing 2 under on the par 5s.

Carson Skarperud and Kagan Kollar each carded rounds of 75 to sit tied for 59th. Kollar finished 2 under on the par-5 holes and recorded four birdies, while Skarperud added three birdies. Joseph Kortan rounded out the North Dakota lineup with a 76 and was one of the steadiest golfers in the field, recording 14 pars to tie for third among all players.

As a team, North Dakota finished the opening round 8 under on the par-5 holes with a 4.68 scoring average, sixth-best among the 19 teams. The Fighting Hawks also recorded 17 birdies, tied for fifth-most in the field.

North Dakota returns to the course Monday for the second round of the Badger Invitational, with the final round scheduled for Tuesday.
