2007 (Freshman): Received UND’s Sioux Hustle Award ? Appeared in 36 games and made 22 starts, including 18 in left field ? Picked up the first two hits of her career vs. Bridgeport (March 10) ? Enjoyed another two-hit game later that day vs. St. Thomas Aquinas ? Drove in her first career run vs. West Chester the following day (March 11) ? Enjoyed five multi-hit games of the season ? Earned first letter.

Before UND: A 2006 graduate of Wheaton High School ? Lettered five times in softball as a prep ? Was named Pheasant Conference Most Valuable Player as a senior in 2006 ? Hit .405 and posted a 1.65 earned run average with 176 strikeouts in 142 innings pitched ? Earned all-state second team honors ? Served as a team captain as a senior and junior ? Led her team to a fourth-place state finish as a senior ? Also lettered three times in basketball and twice in volleyball ? Served as team captain for each as a senior ? Was her high school class valedictorian.

Personal: Majoring in nursing with a minor in pre-med ? Daughter of Marlon Nelk ?  Sister, Rochelle Nelk, played softball and basketball at Northland Community College in Thief River Falls, Minn.
