Scott Herring is UND's associate athletic director and chief financial officer.
Herring oversees all financial operations of athletics, including budget preparation and monitoring, financial projections and analysis, internal and external financial reporting, fiscal policy development and implementation and daily operations of the athletics business office. He also serves as liason with the university administration, UND Foundation and Alumni Association, Ralph Engelstad Arena and the Alerus Center on business and financial issues.
Herring most recently served as vice-president of basketball administration with the NBA's Orlando Magic, for which he was responsible for all day-to-day business and financial matters within basketball operations, as well as the team's salary cap and player contract issues. He was also involved in the planning and start up of a WNBA basketball team, an IHL hockey team and development of a practice facility/health club/office/retail complex.
Herring joined the Magic as a controller in 1988, one year before the team began play in the NBA as an expansion franchise. He was elevated to director of finance in 1994, senior director of finance, IT and administration in 1997, and became vice-president of basketball operations in 1999.
Prior to the Magic, Herring worked as a CPA in public practice.
Herring is a 1981 graduate of Grove City (Pa.) College. He and his wife Debbie have three children: Brett, Sean and Kendall.
