Before UND: A four-year varsity player, earning All-Monterey Bay League honors as a sophomore (second), junior (first) and senior (first) ... He was also named the MBL's Gabilan Division Freshman of the Year as well following the 2014-15 season ... In his final prep season, Schmidt averaged 11.3 ppg and 11.7 rpg, while blocking 70 shots ... As a junior, he averaged 13.5 ppg and 12.6 rpg. Schmidt was also starting pitcher for the Mustangs' baseball team the past two seasons.
