2018-19: Winner of the Cliff "Fido" Purpur Award, given to the player who exemplifies hard work, determination and being a creator of excitement on the ice ...  Finished third on the team with a +12 plus/minus rating ... Scored five goals and added 11 assists, playing all 37 games ... Had a four-point weekend against seventh-ranked Minnesota State (Oct. 19-20) ... Had an assist Friday of that series then scored two goals and had an assist in the 4-3 Saturday win ... Scored three goals in the final six games of the regular season ... Was a positive or even plus/minus player in each of the final eight games of the regular season ... Named an American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Krampade Division I All American Scholar ... An NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete and NCHC All-Academic member ... Earned third letter. 

2017-18 (Sophomore): Named to his second straight NCHC Academic All-Conference Team and was an NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete … Co-recipient of UND’s Most Improved Player Award (w/ Jordan Kawaguchi) … Established career highs for games played (37), points (10), goals (5), assists (5) and plus/minus (+7) ... Ranked fourth among the team’s forwards in plus/minus ... Matched a 65-year-old school record for fastest goal to start a third period when he scored seven seconds into the final frame of a 4-1 win over Western Michigan (Dec. 2) ... Goal was the game-winner and the fastest in NCHC history to open any period ... Goal was named the league’s Top Play of the Week ... Led UND with three goals during the month of December … Earned second letter.

2016-17 (Freshman): Named to both the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team and the NCHC Scholar-Athlete Team … Earned a spot on the University’s President’s Roll of Honor during the spring semester … Registered three goals and four assists in 29 games ... Assisted on the game-tying and game-winning goals in UND’s 6-5 overtime win over #20 St. Cloud State in Game 2 of the NCHC Quarterfinals (March 11) ... Scored UND’s lone goal and was named game’s No. 1 star in 1-1 overtime tie vs. No. 2 Denver (Nov. 11) ... First career goal came in his collegiate debut, a 5-2 win over RPI in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game (Oct. 15) … Earned first letter.

Before UND: Played the previous two seasons with the Steinbach Pistons of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) … Scored a team-leading 26 goals in 54 games last year and ranked second on the team in scoring with 61 points … Added seven goals and 11 assists in 15 playoff games and led the Pistons to a berth in the MJHL’s Turnbull Cup finals … Had 12 goals and 11 assists in 38 games with Steinbach in 2014-15 … A 2014 graduate of Brainerd High School … Lettered three times in hockey at Brainerd under former UND standout Jim Archibald … Also lettered in football and track, earning all-state and team MVP honors in both … Named Brainerd High School Athlete of the Year as a senior.

Personal: Majoring in kinesiology … Son of Tom and Kris Smith … Father played football at St. Cloud State University and mother ran track at Concordia College … Uncle, Sandy Smith, played hockey at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
