GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Fighting Sioux swimming and diving teams lost a close meet to Wisconsin-Green Bay, a division-one opponent.  The men’s squad lost to the Phoenix 142-101, while the women’s team was outscored 136-107. 

 

Despite the loss, UND had a very successful afternoon.  The Sioux won 13 total events, posting B-Cut time s in eight of them.  “The whole squad swam very well.  We had a great meet even though we weren’t able to bring the entire team,” commented head coach Mavaiel Sampaio. 

 

Rodrigo Cintra took first place in the 500 and 1000 free events with times of 4:34.68 and 9:25.48, respectfully.  Cintra also notched a spot in UWGB’s record book by taking the pool record in both events.  Sara Richmire claimed a pool record as well, winning the 400 IM in 4:34.43.

 

Other first-place finishers for the Sioux were: Lauren Mickelson, who took the 200 and 500 freestyle; Fernando Alves in the 200 free and 200 butterfly;  Pedro Pereira in the 50 free and 200 breaststroke; Matt Bonzer in the 400 IM; and Madonna Dorscher in the 50 and 100 free.

 

The Sioux return to action Saturday, Nov. 13th, with the team splitting-up to travel to Northern Michigan and South Dakota State.
