Tyler Stoltz leads men's track & field while Veronica Sackett places first in steeplechase

DES MOINES, IA – The men’s track & field team sent down three athletes to participate in the javelin throw at the Drake Relays while the women’s track & field team sent four athletes down for competition at the Kip Jarnvrin Open at Simpson College located at Indianola, Iowa.
In the javelin throw Tyler Stoltz led UND with a throw of 198 feet placing him ninth in the meet. Matt Fick placed 11th with a toss of 196-07 and teammate Matt Litzinger placed 17th with a throw of 183-08. Andy Vogelsberg from Emporia State won the event with a throw of 215-06.
On the women’s side Veronica Sackett led UND to a first place finish in the steeplechase with a time of 10:53.45. That time was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Margaret Landberg ran a time of 5:04.00 in the 1500 meter run.
Heidi Evans and Brit Beeson ran the 800 meter run for the Fighting Sioux. Heidi placed second with a time of 2:12.72. That time was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. While teammate Brit Beeson ran a time of 2:23.01.
The four women will compete in the 4X800 meter relay tomorrow at the Drake Relays at 10:38 a.m.
