    GRAND FORKS, N.D.— Amanda Osborn and Melanie Salatino each scored two goals to lead tenth-ranked MSU, Mankato past North Dakota 5-2 in women’s hockey action Sunday at the Ralph Engelstad Arena.

    Alycia Wilson scored the Mavericks' (7-1-0) first goal of the game off a missed shot by Lyndsay James at 5:08 in the first period.

    Salatino and Osborn would add to the lead in the second, with Salatino scoring on the power play at the 9:35 mark and Osborn recording her goal at 15:35.

    UND (2-7-1) got on the board in the third period when Alexia Gagnon-Laplante took a Rachel Dusich pass and slid the puck past Shari Vogt at 2:28 in the second to get within 3-1. It was Gagnnon-Laplante’s fourth goal of the season.

    MSU, Mankato responded quickly with Osborn scoring her second of the contest when she took the puck off a UND player’s stick and slipped the puck past UND netminder Margaret-Ann Hinkley to give her team a three goal advantage at 4-1.

    The Fighting Sioux would cut the lead in half when Stasia Bakhit took a pass from Gagnon-Laplante, made a few moves and put the puck past Vogt at 10:34 in the third. It was Bakhit’s fourth goal of the season.

    Salatino iced the game for the Mavericks with her second goal of the game at the 14:07 mark.

    UND will start a six game road trip when they take on Minnesota-Duluth, Nov. 14-15.
