Box ScoreGRAND FORKS, N.D.--Carrie Holldorf scored two goals and added two assists and Grand Forks native Brie Anderson stopped 35 UND shots as St. Cloud State defeated the Fighting Sioux 4-2 Saturday afternoon before 837 fans at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
The Huskies seemingly clinched the game on an Ashley Stewart goal 5:47 into the third period that made it 3-0, but the Sioux staged a spirited rally late in regulation. Stasia Bakhit (Jr., Omaha, Neb.) got UND on the board with her team-leading sixth goal of the season with 5:33 left in the third period. Then with just 31 seconds left and UND goalie Amber Hasbargen (Fr., Warroad, Minn.) pulled for an extra skater, Sherrie White (Jr., Neepawa, Man.) banged the puck past Anderson in a wild scramble in front of the net to pull within a goal.
SCSU put the game away, however, just eight seconds later on Holldorf's empty net goal, her second tally of the game.
Roxanne Stang scored the other Husky goal.
Anderson, who was named the game's first star, stopped 15 UND shots in the third period alone and 26 over the final two periods. Hasbargen made 25 saves and fell to 3-4-2 on the season.
UND killed all four St. Cloud State power plays and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
The two teams play again Saturday afternoon at 2:05 to wrap up the pre-Christmas portion of the schedule.
