    The University of North Dakota men’s swimming and diving team finished in first place and the women took second at the Mutual of Omaha Invitational.  The meet was hosted by the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

     

    The men’s 200 medley relay squad (Rodrigo Ferreira, Ben Swanholm, Jared Peters and Fernando Alves) took first place, just shy of an “A-cut” qualifier in 1:33.43.  Ferreira took an “A-cut” in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle, winning first place in both with times of :50.72 and :45.24, respectively. 

     

    Alves finished first in the 200 IM (1:57.68).  Adams Rollins took first in the 500 freestyle (4:52.22).  Swanholm finished first in the 200 breaststroke (B-cut, 2:08.08).  Andrew Brand added to the men’s tally of first-place finishes, taking the 200 butterfly in 1:54.04 (B-cut).  The men’s 400 freestyle relay squad (Pedro Pereira, Alves, Rollins and Ferreira) finished the event in 3:11.76, taking first place.

     

    Sara Richmire earned an “A-cut” taking first place in the 200 IM (2:08.39).  Lauren Mickelson finished second in the 500 freestyle (B-cut, 5:12.31).  Jenny Bachmeier and Rachel Gordon captured “B-cuts” in the 100 backstroke.  Bachmeier took first place in the event (:59.41) and Gordon took second place (1:00.31).  Sarah Wollenhaupt took a “B-cut” in the 200 breaststroke, taking second place in 2:26.25.   

     

    UND returns to action January 15th, at home against South Dakota State.  Swimming begins at 2 p.m.
