Before UND: Before becoming a member of the Fighting Sioux, Solem played one season at Valley City State University and one season with Northland Community and Technical College..While at VCSU, Solem batted .266 with four doubles, one triple, one homerun, and 16 RBIs during the 2006 season...Last season at NCTC, Solem batted .468 while hitting six homeruns with 30 RBIs...Was named a third-team all-american while at NCTC...A 2005 graduate of East Grand Forks High School ... Letter three times in hockey, two times in football, and one year in track...Two-time all-conference honoree in football...Finished senior football season with over 900 yards receiving and led the team to the AAA football championship.
