Krystal Torres

Krystal Torres joined the UND staff in the spring of 2010 after spending the previous season as a volunteer assistant on the volleyball staff at Hawaii Pacific University.

With the Fighting Sioux, Torres works mainly with the defensive specialists helping to develop their serve receive skills and confidence. She also works closely with the players on serving and helps to develop defensive skills by teaching players to recognize attacker tendencies.

Before Hawaii Pacific, Torres played volleyball at New Mexico State where she was selected to the Western Athletic All-Conference Team in three of her four seasons. She was named second team All-WAC in 2006 and first team All-WAC in 2007 and 2008. She holds the career record for digs at NMSU with 1,942.

Torres was named first team all-district by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and also earned honorable mention All-America honors from the organization.

During her sophomore year, she was also a member of the women's basketball team at NMSU.

The Las Cruces, N.M., native graduated from Mayfield High School where she was a multi-sport athlete. As a senior, she was named a first team all-state selection in both volleyball and basketball.

Torres graduated with a degree in kinesiology from New Mexico State in 2009 and is pursuing the same master's degree at UND. Her focus in both degrees is exercise science.
