UND men?s hockey sets record for consecutive sellouts at Ralph Engelstad Arena

GRAND FORKS, N.D. ? The University of North Dakota men's hockey team played before its 10th consecutive capacity crowd of the season tonight against Michigan Tech, setting a Ralph Engelstad Arena record for consecutive sellouts. Sellouts are based on the arena seating capacity of 11,406.

Attendance at tonight's game was 11,730.

The previous arena record for consecutive sellouts was nine, set in the arena's inaugural season of 2001-02, when UND played before sellout crowds in each of the first nine games of the season. The arena record for most sellouts in a season is 15, also established in 2001-02, when UND played before capacity crowds in all but two of its home games.

With nine regular season home games remaining, UND could tie the season record for capacity crowds if it sells out five of those games.

UND is also on pace to set a Ralph Engelstad Arena record for average attendance per game. The current record for average attendance was 11,456 in 2001-02, and UND came into tonight's game averaging 11,775 through its first nine home dates.

In addition to its nine regular season home games, UND could play host to a Western Collegiate Hockey Association best-of-three first round playoff series if its finishes in the top five of the WCHA regular season standings.
