A native of Grand Forks, Warcup earned a bachelor's degree in education in 1956 and a master's degree in education in 1958, both of which were from UND. Afterwards she did her post graduate work at Indiana University. Warcup was a physical education coach and instructor in California before returning to UND in 1965. She initiated and coached the first modern era UND women's basketball team from 1965-70 and did the same with the softball team from1967-70 (she re-organized softball as a varsity sport in 1977 and coached the team until 1982). Warcup was Women's Athletic Director at UND from 1968-70 and 1971-73. She was instrumental in the formation of women's athletic teams beginning in 1965 and played a role in the forming of the Minnkota Conference, one of the first conferences for women in the nation. A teacher at UND's HPER Department from 1965-92, she then retired from that post.
