Grand Forks, N.D. -- In a very physical game, the Fighting Sioux women's soccer team earned their ninth win of the season at Bronson Field Sunday afternoon. North Dakota improved to 9-8-2 (5-4-2 NCC), while South Dakota fell to 8-7-1 (5-5-0 NCC) on the year.
The lone goal of the game just after the 11th minute early in the first period. UND controlled the ball in South Dakota's zone, threatening to score multiple times before Cassie Lund headed a pass from Megan Tracy, capitalizing the offensive attack.
The goal was Lund's third of the year, placing her third in overall points on the team.
Ashley Rohwer was in the net for the Sioux, earning her seventh win of the season. She had six saves on the day.
UND has a week off before returning to action on Sunday Oct. 29th at 1 p.m. against the Minnesota State Bulldogs in their final game of the regular season. The game will take place in Grand Forks, N.D. at Bronson Field.
