KEARNEY, Neb. - The Fighting Sioux volleyball team lost its season opener to #23 Rockhurst by the score of 30-23, 30-25, and 30-18 at the UNK Fall Classic.

Junior Kendyll Jones (Wayzata, Minn.) led the offensive charge for the Sioux with nine kills. UND's Aileen Cahill (Sr., Blue Earth, Minn.) and Heidi Evans (Jr., Roseau, Minn.) each finished the match with seven kills apiece.

Fighting Sioux sophomore Lindsay Vortherms (Windom, Minn.) paced the defensive side with 22 digs. Cahill and Evans each finished with 19 digs apiece. UND's Mary Blume (Jr., Herman, Minn.) also led the defensive effort with five block assists.

The Sioux return to action later today to face #8 Nebraska-Kearney at 7 p.m.
