MARSHALL, Minn. -- The UND volleyball loses in three games to #21 Southwest Minnesota State by the scores of 24-30, 28-30, and 29-31. The Sioux are now (4-5), (0-0) on the year. Despite the loss, Head Coach
Katy Peterson said, "We played extremely well and we blocked particularly well, but just came up a little bit short."
UND's offensive attack was led by freshman
Britta Hanson (Thompson, N.D.) who finished the match with 10 kills.
Aileen Cahill (Sr., Blue Earth, Minn.) also contributed on the offensive end as she finished with nine kills and also led the team with 14 digs.
Assisting the hitters was the duo of sophomore
Allison Louwagie (Marshall, Minn.) and freshmen
Megan Langseth (Alexandria, Minn.) who finished with 17 and 10 set assists, respectively.
Defensively, the Sioux were led by the blocking combination of
Tara Holmen (Jr., Berthold, N.D.) and
Heidi Evans (Sr., Roseau, Minn.) who finished with seven and six block assists, respectively.
The Fighting Sioux volleyball team returns to action Tuesday against Minnesota-Crookston in Crookston. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
