SIOUX FALLS, S.D. ? The Fighting Sioux volleyball team lost to #14 Augustana, 3-0. UND falls to 5-14 overall and 0-5 in the NCC. Augustana improves its season record to 16-6 overall and 5-2 in the NCC.
Augustana won games one and two handily, 30-17 and 30-12. Game three featured 12 ties and five lead changes, but Augustana would prevail 30-27.
UND was led on offense by senior Tara Holmen (Berthold, N.D.) and sophomore Amanda Polzin (Hutchinson, Minn.). Holmen and Polzin each finished with 11 kills in the contest. Cayla Schroeder had a match-high 16 kills for the Vikings.
Defensively the Sioux were led by freshman Courtney Halvorson (Oklee, Minn.). Halvorson finished with a team-high 15 digs. Setter Megan Langseth (So., Alexandria, Minn.) registered 32 set assists in the contest for the Sioux offense.
UND will return to action on Saturday against Nebraska-Omaha. Game time is set for 4 p.m. and will be played at Sapp Field House in Omaha, Neb.
