SIOUX FALLS, S.D. ? The UND women's soccer team rallied a second period goal Sunday afternoon against Augustana to battle to a 1-1 tie. The Fighting Sioux improve their overall record to 5-8-2, 0-6-2 in NCC action while Augustana advanced to 6-6-2, 2-4-1 in the NCC.
The Vikings came out with an early lead when Kayla Peek assisted Jill Goodrich with her first goal on the season at 4:30. Augustana protected the lead, ending the first period with a 1-0 advantaged over UND.
Early in the second period, the Fighting Sioux struck back. Midfielder Becca Krynski (Fr., Rapid City, S.D.) scored her second goal on the season off an assist from Mandi Boehmer (So., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) at 49:08 to tie the game and ultimately sent the two teams into overtime.
Goalkeeper Erin Pederson (Jr., Grand Forks, N.D.) played all 120 minutes for the Fighting Sioux. Pederson was credited with six saves on the day. In net for the Vikings was Lisa Jarovski. The Fighting Sioux outshot Augustana by a 25-16 count. Lauren Herrmann (So., Eagan, Minn.) led the Fighting Sioux with 11 shots on the day.
The Fighting Sioux will play the remainder of their regular season games in Grand Forks, N.D. UND will next take on Nebraska-Omaha Sunday, Oct. 21 at Bronson Field. The NCC match-up will take place at 1 p.m.
