GRAND FORKS, N.D.--The unbeaten Fighting Sioux women's basketball team remains ranked No. 1 nationally in the latest USA TODAY ESPN Top 25 women's basketball poll released today by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
UND, 11-0 on the season, collected 20 first-place votes and 596 total points to remain ahead of second-ranked Delta State. The Statesmen garnered three first-place votes and 571 total points.
The University of Alaska Anchorage collected the only other first-place vote in this week's poll.
The Fighting Sioux are one of three North Central Conference teams appearing in this week's poll, joining No. 19 South Dakota and No. 21 Minnesota State.
UND hosts Bemidji State on Thursday at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center, the final game prior to the Christmas break for the Sioux.
