GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The Fighting Sioux women's soccer team lost the first of its two-game homestand Friday afternoon to Augustana, 3-1. UND's record falls to 5-5-0 on the season, 0-4-0 in the North Central Conference. Augustana improves to 6-4-1, 2-2-0 in the NCC.
The Fighting Sioux took an early lead when freshman midfielder Becca Krynski (Rapid City, S.D.) put one past Augustana goalkeeper Lisa Jarovski at 23:45 to give UND a 1-0 lead. Augustana came back three minutes later when Stephanie Goos assisted Alicia DeHaan to tie the game up at 1-1.
Augustana came out strong in the second period, with senior Bre Olson scoring at 56:54, giving the Vikings a 2-1 lead. Midfielder Katie Shandri scored an unassisted goal at 82:39, solidifying the Augustana win at 3-1.
In net for the Fighting Sioux was Lauren Sera (So., Winnipeg, Manitoba). Jarovski received the win for the Vikings.
The Fighting Sioux will wrap up their weekend of play Sunday afternoon when they take on Minnesota Duluth at Bronson Field. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
