Lamoureux named WCHA co-defensive player of week

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- UND men's hockey goalie Jean-Philippe Lamoureux (Sr., Grand Forks, N.D.) was named WCHA co-defensive player of the week today by the league office.

Sharing this week's league defensive honor with Lamoureux is St. Cloud State goalie Jase Weslosky. The duo battled to a pair of overtime ties last weekend in the last regular season series for both teams.

Lamoureux stopped 17 shots on Friday and then 31 shots on Saturday. He stopped 48 of 51 Huskies' shots on goal for the weekend for a save percentage of .941 and allowed just one even-strength goal.

Lamoureux's performance enabled him to finish the regular season as the 2007-08 WCHA goaltending champion with a 1.74 goals against average.

Lamoureux also leads the nation in overall goals against average (1.66), and he is tied for the national lead in save percentage (.934).

It is Lamoureux's third WCHA weekly honor this season. He also received the league's weekly defensive honor on Dec. 4 and March 4.
