GRAND FORKS, N.D.--University of North Dakota junior forward Kierah Kimbrough has been named to the 2008 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II State Farm Coaches' All-America Basketball Team, announced today by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
Additionally, UND senior forward Ashley Langen was named an honorable mention All-American by the WBCA.
It is the first career WBCA All-America honor for Kimbrough, who was named to the Daktronics All-America second team as a sophomore in 2006-07. The Greenbush, Minn., native played in 31 games this season and led the North Central Conference in scoring (17.4 ppg) and field goal percentage (.576) and ranked second in rebounding (7.7 rpg). She also ranked fifth in the NCC in blocked shots (1.13 bpg) and seventh in free throw percentage (.797).
Kimbrough surpassed the 1,000-point milestone for her career earlier this season and will enter her senior year ranked 12th on UND's all-time scoring list. In the NCC Tournament semifinal against Augustana earlier this month, Kimbrough set a UND playoff record with 37 points.
Kimbrough was also named to her second consecutive All-NCC team this season and earned Academic All-NCC honors.
Langen, a native of Kennedy, Minn., graduates as just the second player in UND women's basketball history ? and 16th in NCAA Division II history ? with 2,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. A four-time All-NCC selection, Langen averaged 16.0 points in 31 games this season and led the conference with 10.6 rebounds per game.
This year's team marks the first State Farm Coaches' All-America Team, as Eastman Kodak held the previous sponsorship for 25 years. Kimbrough is the 10th different player in Fighting Sioux history to earn WBCA All-America honors and the first since Kristi Boese in 2005-06.
