GRAND FORKS, N.D. ? Lauren Herrmann (Jr., Eagan, Minn.) scored three goals for the Fighting Sioux in a 4-1 win over Augustana Friday evening at Bronson Field.
Augustana struck first in the game, with midfielder Katie Shandri scoring off a 10-foot shot in front of UND goalkeeper Monica Stierman (So., Mahtomedi, Minn.).
UND came back at 24:04 when freshman Rachael Loomis (Fargo, N.D.) scored her first goal of the game, her fourth of exhibition play, at 24:02 off a pass from captain Lara Traczyk (Sr., Markham, Ont.).
Herrmann scored an unassisted goal nearly a minute later at 25:05. Herrmann would follow with her second goal of the game at 27:57 off a pass from Loomis.
Loomis and Brittany Kuntz (So., Bismarck, N.D.) assisted Herrmann with her third goal at 59:01 to give the Fighting Sioux the 4-1 edge over the Vikings.
The win increased the Fighting Sioux's exhibition record to 2-0. UND out-shot Augustana 29-17 on the day, earning 17 of their shots in the first half alone.
The Fighting Sioux begin regular season play next week with a road series in Utah. UND will take on Weber State on Thursday, Aug. 28 in a 3 p.m. match-up in Ogden. The Fighting Sioux will then meet the Utah Valley Wolverines in Orem on Saturday, Aug. 30. Game time is set for 11:30 a.m.
