Soccer Blog: Bame-Sauced Zach Attack (Vol. 9: Oct. 15)

Each Week throughout the soccer season, senior co-captains Mandi Boehmer and Kirsten Zachman will update fans with a weekly blog entry on FightingSioux.com. Check back each week in he features section on the bottom of FightingSioux.com for more updates and inside information from the University of North Dakota soccer team.

This past weekend the Sioux soccer team continued with our Great West Conference play at home on Bronson field against the Utah Valley Wolverines on Friday and against the Houston Baptist Huskies on Sunday afternoon.

The weather was extremely cold and blustery both days with temperatures in the 40's.  It was a challenge playing in such cold weather and at one point, there was even snow flurries!  We played well and seemed evenly matched with the other teams but unfortunately did not come out with a win for either game.

A big thanks goes out to our fans and family members who came to cheer us on and braved the cold weather!  A special thanks to Coach Krick's mom who came from Texas to watch us play.

Fortunately, we look forward to getting another shot at Houston Baptist this Sunday in Houston, Texas.  This conference game should be drastically different, starting with the weather.  There should be a high of 73 degrees over the weekend and sunny!  Although, I hope that it won't be too humid.

We are also playing Texas Southern in a non-conference game on Monday.

This will be our first airline trip for the year, which should be better than our 6 to 8-hour coach bus rides!  The team looks forward to coming out of this next weekend with some big wins.  Go Sioux Soccer!
