HOUSTON, Texas--University of North Dakota sophomore Rachael Loomis second-half goal gave the Fighting Sioux a 1-1 Great West Conference overtime tie at Houston Baptist this afternoon.
The tie snapped a six-game losing skid for UND.
Loomis, a native of Fargo, N.D., put the Sioux in position to win the match when she scored her fifth goal of the season at the 74-minute mark. Junior midfielder Becca Krynski (Rapid City, S.D.) drew the assist.
However, the host Huskies were able to salvage the tie when Isla Cameron responded with her fourth goal of the year in the 84th minute.
Nothing was settled in overtime, although the Huskies had a the best scoring chance when freshman Brandi Hart fired a shot off the post.
Junior goalkeeper Monica Stierman (Mahtomedi, Minn.) made six saves for the Sioux, while HBU's Michelle Rich countered with four.
The Huskies held a 14-6 advantage in shots and a 7-5 edge in shots on goal. HBU had four corner kicks to the Fighting Sioux's two.
UND, now 1-10-2 overall and 0-3-1 in Great West action, continues its three-game road swing with stops at Texas Southern (Oct. 19) and Utah Valley (Oct. 23).
