GRAND FORKS, N.D. ? University of North Dakota soccer head coach Kristen Gay announced the addition of Nichole Tiggs to her coaching staff on Wednesday. Tiggs will serve as an assistant coach with her primary responsibilities being recruiting and coaching camps, practice and games.
Tiggs comes to the Sioux bringing a whole heap of playing and coaching experience while recently completing her master's degree from UND in August, 2008. A four-year starter at Indiana State University from 2002-2005, she won numerous Missouri Valley Conference honors along with becoming the Sycamores all-time point scorer, all-time goal scorer and holds the record for all-time shots in a single season.
“I'm excited about the addition of Nichole Tiggs to our Fighting Sioux soccer staff,” Gay said. “She has been a staple in the Grand Forks soccer community, is an up and coming young coach, and a person of tremendous character. Tiggs knows what Division I soccer is all about and will excel in every aspect as we prepare our program to compete at the Division I level.”
A native of Chandler, Ariz., Tiggs was a four-year letter winner and captain of the Corona del Sol High School where she lead the team to four Region V Conference championships as the teams leading scorer in as many years. She was also part of the U-19 Arizona State Cup Champions with the Sereno Soccer Club and U-18 runner-up with the SC del Sol.
Since coming to Grand Forks, Tiggs has coached the Central and East Grand Forks High Schools along with the Greater Grand Forks Soccer Club.
