UND's Schwenzfeier honored by CollegeFootballPerformance.com

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - University of North Dakota senior strong safety Joel Schwenzfeier picked up CollegeFootballPerformance.com CFPA DI FCS defensive back honorable mention honors following his performance against Great West Conference opponent Southern Utah on Saturday.

With the Thunderbirds looking to cap their opening drive with a 17-yard pass play, the Hallock, Minn., native zeroed in on SUU quarterback Brad Sorensen and picked him off inside the end zone. With a bit of foot-action, Schwenzfeier dodged the opposition, found a hole, and took the ball the length of the field for a touchdown.

His 100-yard return not only set a UND school record, but it also set a Great West Conference record.

It was the first interception for Schwenzfeier this season and the eighth of his career. He is the second UND player this season (Dominique Hawkins) to return an interception for a touchdown.
