NIPOMO, Calif. - Fighting Sioux sophomore
Alex Robb capped off the best tournament of his young career with a final-round 71 today, earning a runner-up finish at the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invite at the Monarch Dunes Golf Course.
Robb, a native of Chanhassen, Minn., shot a three-round 211 to finish only four strokes behind medalist Mario Clemens of UCLA. Robb's opening-round 67 was the best score of any golfer in the two-day tournament.
Host Cal Poly's 'Gold' team finished atop the team standings with an 865. UND placed sixth in the nine-team field with a 900 (290-307-303).
The Fighting Sioux now have a week off before returning to action Oct. 18-19 at the Bill Ross Invitational in Kansas City.
