GAMES: The Sioux return to their home turf to face off against the Drake University Bulldogs on Friday. Following the Bulldogs, UND will take on the Green Bay University Phoenix on Sunday at home.
DRAKE: Friday's contest will be the third meeting between the Fighting Sioux and the Bulldogs and UND's first home game of the regular season. Drake has a 2-0 advantage all-time in the series against the Sioux. The two foes first meeting favored the Bulldogs 9-0 (10/19/08), while the second contest was more evenly matched with the final score being 0-1 (10/4/09), after two overtime periods, in advantage of Drake. The Bulldogs finished the 2009 season with a 9-9-3 record finishing fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference and advanced to the semi-finals of the MVC championship tournament.
GREEN BAY: Sunday's meeting between the Fighting Sioux and the Phoenix will be their second. The first meeting went way of the Pheonix in Green Bay, Wis., by a 3-1 score in 2008. Green Bay took the Sioux's Friday opponent, the Drake University Bulldogs, to a scoreless tie in their first regular season matchup. The Phoenix finished sixth in the Horizon League standings and were ousted in the first round of their conference tournament.
PREVIOUS ACTION: The Sioux faced off against rival North Dakota State. The Bison took down the Sioux 4-3 despite a late rally by the Sioux. UND was down 3-1 after the first period, but a goal by Rachel Loomis (Fargo, N.D.)at the 75-minute mark sparked a rally that led to a second goal eight minutes later by Rachel Dallman (Grand Forks, N.D.). The Sioux had a chance to tie the game in the closing seconds off a corner kick that ended up being kicked out of bounds by an NDSU defender.
ALUMNI: The Fighting Sioux of the present faced off against alumni members to a 4-4 tie. The present roster held a 3-0 tie at the half, but a goal nine minutes into the second period by current UND assistant coach Nichole Tiggs started the alumni's rally. The rally was haulted briefly by sophomore defender Caitlyn Haring (Fargo, N.D.), but was restarted by Mandi Boehmer (2006-08) on a penalty kick. Goals at 81:30 and 86:41 by Nichole Tiggs and Kirsten Zachmann (2008) tied the game at four goals apiece. Freshman goaltender Kristine Pfau (Edina, Minn.) and senior keeper Monica Stierman (Mahtomedi, Minn.) split time in goal.
TEXAS ROADHOUSE: Texas Roadhouse will be at Friday's game providing free food for fans as official sponsors of Sioux Crew. Food will be available 30 minutes prior to the game while supplies last.
