UND athletics announces 2007-08 Fighting Sioux Sports Network broadcast schedule

Unprecedented TV coverage on tap for 2010-11

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - University of North Dakota athletics will cast a wide television net in 2010-11. As many as 41 live events, along with a pair of weekly television shows, will be broadcast on regional and national television during the upcoming season.

UND games and television shows will air nationally on Fox College Sports, regionally on Forum Communications television stations in Grand Forks, Fargo, Bismarck and Minot, and on cable on Midco Sports Network and 20 locally owned cable systems in North Dakota and Minnesota that comprise the Fighting Sioux Sports Network (FSSN).

All home men's hockey games will be televised, along with three football games and five men's and women's basketball games apiece.

New additions to UND's television package are live appearances for the Sioux women's volleyball and hockey teams. 

"One of our goals every year is to elevate the presence of Fighting Sioux athletics in the local, regional and national media," said UND Director of Athletics Brian Faison. "This year's expanded schedule of live television events and two weekly shows will get Fighting Sioux athletics in front of audiences of millions each week."

The men's hockey television schedule begins with UND's exhibition game against the University of Manitoba on Sunday, Oct. 3. All 18 regular season home games, two exhibition games and the first round of the WCHA playoffs (if hosted by UND) will air live. 

The defending Great West Conference volleyball champions will host South Dakota live on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m., live from the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.

The new look Sioux women's hockey team will make four live television appearances, all against teams that went to the 2009 NCAA tournament.  UND will face Boston University (Oct. 2), defending national champion Minnesota Duluth (Oct. 8) and arch rival Minnesota (Feb. 18-19).

Three Sioux football games will be televised, beginning with the second home game of the season on Sept. 25 against Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) opponent Northwestern State.

The Sioux basketball television schedule features three Great West Conference doubleheaders, along with a non-conference doubleheader against Gonzaga, a 2010 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 team, and IPFW of the Summit League on Nov. 23rd.

"Sioux Sports Extra," UND athletics' weekly television show produced by Forum Communications, will air on Sunday nights on WDAZ in Grand Forks, WDAY in Fargo, KBMY in Bismarck and KMCY in Minot. The show will also air later during the week on Midco Sports Network and Fox College Sports.

"Inside Fighting Sioux Hockey," the new men's hockey television show, will air on Midco Sports Network, Fox College Sports and on the Fighting Sioux Sports Network beginning the week of Oct 5.
