OXBOW, N.D. - The Fighting Sioux men's golf team enjoyed its best round of the tournament while junior Tyler Monda carded his second straight 74 to finish in fourth place at the Erv Kaiser Invitational, which concluded today at the Oxbow Country Club.

UND finished in fourth place with a 922 after posting a final-round 300 today, an improvement on the 312 and 310 the Sioux shot in the first two rounds, respectively.

Green Bay captured first place with an 899 (306-296-297) to defeat runner-up Manitoba by eight strokes.

Monda, meanwhile, shot a two-over-par 74 for the second straight day to finish just two shots off the lead in fourth place. The Brainerd, Minn., native finished the two-day, three-round tournament with a seven-over 223 (75-74-74).

Green Bay's Sam Weber took medalist honors with a five-over 221 (70-78-73).

Monda was one of five Sioux golfers to break 80 during today's final round. Sophomore Alex Robb (Chanhassen, Minn.) tied for 12th place with a 230 (80-73-77) while junior Matthew Wrolstad (Fargo, N.D.) tied for 17th with a 233 (79-79-75).

Freshman Sean Halverson (Brainerd, Minn.) and sophomore Nick Schaefer (Grand Forks, N.D.) each matched Monda's team-best 74 today. Halverson finished tied for 19th with a 234 (82-78-74) while Schaefer placed 28th with a 238 (79-85-74).

Following a week off, the Sioux will return to action Oct. 4-5 at the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Open at the Monarch Dunes Golf Course in Nipomo, Calif.
