Sioux earn NCAA Public Recognition for APR score

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) has recognized the University of North Dakota women's golf team for its outstanding multiyear Academic Progress Rate (APR).

UND's APR ranks in the top 10 percent of all Division I women's golf programs, which accounts for the 2006-07 through 2009-10 academic years.

"This is another recognition of the exceptional job that our student-athletes do in balancing work in the classroom and in their sport," UND Athletics Director Brian Faison said.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation, and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.

Each year the NCAA honors selected Division I sports teams by publicly recognizing their latest multiyear NCAA Division I APR. The public recognition is part of the overall Division I academic reform effort and is intended to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sport.
