GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Athletics Director Brian Faison announced on Thursday that the North Dakota football team will play a home-and-home series with Stony Brook starting with a home game in 2014. UND will play a return game at the university located on New York's Long Island in 2016.
The Seawolves will be the fourth and final non-conference opponent slated to play the Green and White next season with the game scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 20. Stony Brook fills out a 12-game schedule for a program that will have a new head coach.
This will be the second trip to the Alerus Center for Stony Brook, who fell to UND 31-24 in 2009. The Seawolves advanced to the FCS Playoffs in 2011 and 2012 as Big South members and just concluded their first season in the Colonial Athletic Association with a 5-6 record overall and 3-5 mark in league play.
UND will be making its first trip to the Empire State for a football game when it opens the 2016 season at LaValle Stadium on Sept. 3.
