Tempe, Ariz. - The University of North Dakota softball team began its second day of the Wilson/DeMarini Invitational with an 8-5 loss to Binghamton and closed the day out falling to North Carolina by a score of 16-0 at Farrington Field.

North Dakota got on the scoreboard first against Binghamton with a run scored by sophomore Taylor Donnelly (Lakeville, Minn.) in the fourth inning. Binghamton fought back in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring three runs.
UND added two more runs in both the fifth and seventh innings, but it wasn't enough to defeat the Bearcats.
Junior D Jantzer (Grants Pass, Ore.) went 3-for-4 against Binghamton.
North Dakota outhit Binghamton 10-9.
UNC 16, UND 0
In the second game of the day, North Carolina jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the opening inning of the game.
UND held North Carolina to a scoreless second inning. UNC added six runs in the third inning, five runs in the fourth, and one run in the fifth and final inning of the game.
North Dakota was outhit 16-2 in the game. The two hits for UND came from junior D Jantzer (Grants Pass, Ore.) and freshman Emily Bell (Elgin, Ill.).
With the two losses North Dakota's record falls to 2-9.
North Dakota will close out the tournament Sunday at 10 a.m. with a game against East Carolina at Farrington Field.
