GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota men's tennis team won its first match of the season in a 5-2 victory over Big Sky Conference opponent Idaho State at Choice Health and Fitness Center on Friday afternoon.
North Dakota began the match with strong play, winning each of the three doubles matches and earning the point.
UND continued its strong play in singles action. Senior Josh Oothoudt (Minot, N.D.) took his match to three sets, dropping the first one by a score of 5-7 and rallying to win the final two in No. 3 singles.
North Dakota also received victories from freshman Dustin Britton (Plymouth, Minn.) in No. 4 singles and junior Grant Bakke (Bismarck, N.D.) in No. 5 singles. In No. 6 singles, sophomore David Bergstrom (Grand Marais, Minn.) won his match by scores of 7-5 and 6-4.
UND will play for its second straight win on at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 22nd against Nebraska Omaha at Choice Health and Fitness Center in Grand Forks.
