UND clinches 12th straight tourney berth, faces UW

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota has secured a berth in the 2014 NCAA Men's Hockey Tournament and will face Wisconsin in the Midwest Region semifinal on Friday in Cincinnati. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Central and can be seen live on ESPNU.

Ferris State will meet Colgate in the other Midwest Region semifinal at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN3. The regional championship game takes place on Saturday, March 29, at 5:30 p.m.

It is the 12th consecutive NCAA postseason berth for UND, extending the longest active streak in Division I men's hockey, and is the 29th appearance in program history. UND has won seven national championships in men's hockey, a total topped only by Michigan's nine.

UND enters the NCAA postseason with a 23-13-3 record after a 5-0 win over Western Michigan in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff third-place game on Saturday afternoon.

Friday's regional semifinal will mark the 164th all-time meeting between North Dakota and Wisconsin. They last met last February in Grand Forks as WCHA rivals, with UND picking up a 4-1 win and a 1-1 overtime tie. The two programs have previously met twice in the NCAA tournament, with UND winning 5-2 in the 1982 NCAA title game and 3-2 in overtime in the 2008 Midwest Region championship.
