POCATELLO, Idaho – The University of North Dakota men's tennis team fell to Idaho State, 7-0, in Big Sky Conference play on Saturday in Pocatello, Idaho.
The loss is the fourth-straight setback for UND, which is now 4-7 on the season and 0-5 in Big Sky play.
Idaho State took all nine matches on the day, but UND didn't go easily, fighting the Bengals valiantly, and forced three sets in two of the singles matches.
David Bergstrom dropped the first set in the No. 3 singles match, 6-2, but rebounded to take the second set 7-6. The close play continued in the match as ISU's Bjorn Scheepbouwer narrowly defeated Bergstrom, 10-8, in the super tiebreaker.
Ty Misialek had a similar match in the No. 6 singles, dropping the first set, 6-4, before winning the second set, 7-5. But again, UND would come up short in the super tiebreak as Misialek fell 10-6 to ISU's Austin Miller.
North Dakota remains out west this upcoming week, as UND takes on Northern Colorado on Tuesday, March 17, and Sacramento State on Wednesday, March 18. Both duals will be played in Sacramento, Calif.
