Patterson, La. -- Most of the 13-team field at the Atchafalaya Intercollegiate could only complete nine holes before Mother Nature announced her presence with more pelting rain and tornado warnings on Tuesday that forced tournament officials to cancel the remainder of the scheduled 54-hole event.
The second-round scores were wiped out and Louisiana-Monroe was declared the team champion aftern an opening-rouind 284 (-4) on Monday, while Nicholls State's Jack Lee and Central Arkansas' Luis Obiols shared medalist honors with a 69 (-3) in soggy conditions.
Senior co-captains
Jacob Dehne and
Aaron Pulanco led North Dakota's efforts with scores of 72 (E) and 74 (+2), respectively. For Dehne, the tie for 10th was his third top-10 finish of the season. Pulanco tied for 23rd, while the Fighting Hawks combined for a 316 (+28).
Dehne was one-over thru 12 holes and Pulanco was four-over thru 12 holes when play was suspended.
UND will return to action at the Colin Montgomerie HBU Spring Invitational next week in Woodlands, Texas.
