Pulanco posts UND's top score in Cape Fear finale

Leland, N.C. -- Senior Aaron Pulanco carded the best round of the day for the North Dakota men's golf team as the Fighting Hawks wrapped up play at the Cape Fear National Intercollegiate. Pulanco was better in each of his subsequent rounds at the 54-hole event, ending his tournament with a 75 (+3) on Monday.

Pulanco's round was a steady one, featuring four bogeys and a birdie as he finished at 233 (+17) for the tournament after going 80-78 on Sunday.

Senior Jacob Dehne tied for 17th was the top UND golfer for the tournament, finishing at 223 (+7). He opened the tournament with a career-best 69 (-3) in Monday's first round.

Freshman Jeremy Kirk put together three rounds in the 70's, capping the tournament with a 79 (+7). His 231 (+15) total was the best of his young collegiate career.

Duke rolled to the team title as the 20th-ranked Blue Devils posted an 857 (-7) to defeat UNC-Wilmington (871; +7) by 14 strokes. UND dropped three spots with a final round 315 (+27) and tied for 11th with High Point (932; +68).

UNCW's Patrick Cover won medalist honors with a 54-hole total of 208 (-8). He shot a 69 (-3) in his final round to hold off Duke's Matt Oshrine (210; -6) by two strokes.

UND returns to action in three weeks at the Red Wolves Intercollegiate.
