FARGO, N.D. - - The University of North Dakota track and field team continued to show its strength in breaking records today at the North Dakota State Bison Open.
Junior Heather Harrower earned an event win in the 600-meter run. Harrower's time of 1 minute, 32.99 seconds improved her school record, which she previously held with a time of 1:33.7.
“Heather had a very convincing performance,” said head coach Kevin Galbraith. “It was a tough effort from the start and she led the whole way.”
Also improving his standing in UND history was senior Cody Mach in the weight throw. Mach previously held the number two spot in the record books with a mark of 59 feet (17.98). Mach bested his mark today with a throw of 60-03 (18.36). He now also holds the third spot in the Big Sky Conference.
Also in the weight throw, Tyler Kolander earned a personal-best throw at a distance of 56-07.25 (17.25).
Freshman Matt Culhane earned a season-best mark in the weight throw after hitting 50-04.75 (15.36).
In the women's weight throw, sophomore Jessica Drady earned a personal record with her toss of 50-08.75 (15.46).
“The weight throw went really well today,” said Galbraith. “We had several bests and that's always exciting to see.”
UND will continue competing at the Bison Open tomorrow.
