Last Time Out
North Dakota divided up for a pair of meets last weekend and competed at both the East Coast Invitational in Virginia and the Bison Open in Fargo. As a unit, the Fighting Hawks set two new program records, placed 19 times and recorded six improvements on the UND top-10 lists. The meets were highlighted by Kenna Curry and Ethan Thomas breaking records.

On Friday in Virginia, Curry won the weight throw and shattered the school record with a toss of 75-0 1/2 (22.87m). Her throw broke the previous record mark of 72-1 3/4 (21.99m), set by Molli Detloff at the 2019 Summit League Indoor Championships. Curry's throw currently ranks No. 4 in the NCAA.

Along with the school record, Curry's record-breaking throw also destroyed both the Virginia Beach Sports Center facility record and the East Coast Invitational meet record. The previous facility record was held by Gudrun Hallgrimsdottir with a toss of 69-9 1/2 (21.27m) at the 2024 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships. The meet record before Curry's throw was 58-5 (17.81m), set by Arieana Parker of Norfolk State in 2022.

Thomas broke his own program record in the shot put and placed sixth at the East Coast Invitational with a throw of 60-6 3/4 (18.46m). He bettered his previous record of 59-6 1/4 (18.14m), which he set at the Jim Emmerich Alumni Meet in Brookings two weeks ago. Thomas now ties for No. 43 in the NCAA in the shot put.
