BROOKINGS, S.D.-- The University of North Dakota indoor track and field teams competed at the Jim Emmerich Alumni Invitational, hosted by South Dakota State Saturday afternoon at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
Senior
Molli Detloff added to an already impressive collegiate career with her 21.52m (70'7") school-record toss in the weight throw. That throw is among the best in all of NCAA Division I athletes to date.
"It's kind of amazing," UND head track and field coach
Kevin Galbraith said of Detloff's mark. "It's a school record and as we sit, it's the seventh-best throw in the nation. Overall, we had a good meet, we had a lot of people with lifetime bests and season bests."Â
In other field events,
Ellie Miller cleared 1.68 meters in the high jump for a runner-up finish.
Isabel Waite and
Erica Benson tied for fourth in that event.
Kyley Foster cleared 3.80 meters in the pole vault to lead the North Dakota contingent and finish fifth.
Autumn Stokes was fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 11.23 meters.
Keely Walker was UND's top finisher in the shot put with a heave of 13.06 meters. Senior
Molli Detloff was the top collegiate athlete, finishing second overall with her 21.52-meter effort. Destinee Rose-Haas took fourth for UND.Â
On the women's side,
Mosetta Bodah took runner-up in the 60-meter dash with a 7.90 time.
Madison Overby (4:56.28) took third in the mile run, just under a half-second shy of the winner.
Hannah Oscarson took fourth, under a second behind Overby in a bunched race that had first through sixth within just over four seconds apart.
Erin Brown was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with n 8.92 time in the finals.Â
Highlights on the men's side included:
Cooper Jackson taking fifth in the 600-meter run (1:25. 23).
Joseph Fenstermacher was on his heels for sixth. Mitchel Wangler shaved time off his prelim showing to finish fifth in 8.46 in the 60 hurdles.Â
The field events saw
Nolan Hovland clear the 2-meter bar for a fifth-place showing.
Nick Krella went over 4.45 meters in the pole vault and also took fifth. In the throws,
Michael Quesenberry's 17.20-meter toss in the shot put was good for second.
Tyler Kolander registered an 18.11-meter effort in the weight throw.Â
North Dakota will host another indoor meet this coming Saturday as it welcomes teams in for the UND Indoor Open on Friday and Saturday.Â
